I'm Rey Castillo Jr, the person behind the lens
I'm based in Swannanoa, North Carolina, yet also available for work outside of North America.
When people look at my photos, I want them to feel, just like they do in the moment.
I am a Deaf photographer with a passion for storytelling through images. My journey began in early 2007, capturing musicians performing live at various venues, feeling the rhythm through energy, expression, and movement rather than sound.
Over the years, my lens has explored many forms of photography, including lifestyle, landscapes, and wildlife. Most recently, I’ve begun focusing on fire photography—honoring first responders by documenting the powerful and often unseen moments of their service.
My style combines photojournalism and fine art, with a touch of fashion and a flair for creative lighting. I’m driven by unique perspectives and, most importantly, the personalities of the people I photograph.
Every image tells a story—raw, authentic, and beautifully you.
My Approach
My work is a reflection of what I’m most passionate about—storytelling, simplicity, and human connection. I seek out the beauty in everything and everyone, capturing the quiet moments that speak the loudest.
